Every ton of incinerated waste leaves behind roughly 200kg of slag - but hidden within that residue are valuable materials waiting to be recovered. Join us for an on-site visit to the ZAV Recycling slag processing plant in Hinwil, where experts will share how thermal recycling and slag processing are driving Switzerland's shift toward a circular economy.
Approx. 800.000 metric tons of non-recyclable waste are generated annually in the canton of Zurich. But what actually happens to it? Last week, we explored this very question with a dedicated group from industry, research, and the circular economy community—on-site at the Tambrig landfill.
Ricarda Fieber represented the Group for Circular Economy at the 36th Annual Meeting of SETAC Europe from 17-21 May 2026, presenting ongoing research on safe and sustainable packaging. The conference brought together experts from academia, industry, and policy to discuss pathways toward safer and more sustainable chemistry.
