Approx. 800.000 metric tons of non-recyclable waste are generated annually in the canton of Zurich. But what actually happens to it? Last week, we explored this very question with a dedicated group from industry, research, and the circular economy community—on-site at the Tambrig landfill.
Ricarda Fieber represented the Group for Circular Economy at the 36th Annual Meeting of SETAC Europe from 17-21 May 2026, presenting ongoing research on safe and sustainable packaging. The conference brought together experts from academia, industry, and policy to discuss pathways toward safer and more sustainable chemistry.
Our PhD candidates Alberto Arcà and David Pfeffer presented their research on the EU policy mix for chemical recycling and engaged with frontier research on sustainable polymer systems.
